My daughter loves to dream about all the places she is going to travel when she gets older. She comes up with the most fantastic stories about deep sea adventures and treks through the wild jungles. I think that may be why she enjoyed the story Abigail and her jungle adventure!

"Abigail and the Jungle Adventure" written by Tali Carmi is a fun and exciting story about a curious little girl named Abigail. One day while exploring her Grandparent's house she discovers a magic bicycle and book. Together they have the power to take Abigail on an amazing adventure! Join Abigail as she explores the rainforest. She meets a toucan who tries to eat her bicycle, plays with an adorable jaguar and even meets a new friend named Nuka.

The illustrations in the book are bright and cheerful but I did find them somewhat stereotypical of the Rainforest people.

I would have liked to have learned a little more Nuka's family and about life in the Rainforest. Maybe that is just the Mom in me wanting to teach my daughter something new, and not enjoying the story for what it is...a children's adventure.

My daughter enjoyed the story a lot and spent some time after reading it telling me about all the other things that Abigail might see in the Rainforest and the other places Abigail may take her Magic Bike.

The author also offers the reader a "Thank You" gift. You can play some interactive puzzles by following the link provided in the book.
This is the first in a series of books featuring a little girl named Abigail. She is curious and adventurous. Abigail is spending Christmas at her grandparents’ house while her parents are on a business trip. Grandpa is a retired scientist and inventor who lives in a big, old house full of interesting places to explore. Abigail takes the opportunity to investigate the home while her grandparents are napping and finds many interesting objects in the attic. One of these is a shiny red bicycle covered with a blanket. Inside its basket, Abigail discovers a antique, dusty book containing pictures of different spots all over the world. On the last page she finds the instructions to think of a place and repeat this sentence three times “Take me there, let me see, Show me where I want to be!”

What young explorer could resist the temptation? Abigail finds herself in the jungle where she will meet a Toucan, a jaguar, some squirrel monkeys, and a native boy named Nuka. Abigail is a generous young girl and she shares her magical bicycle with her new friend. What will happen next? Will Abigail stay in the jungle, explore a new site or return back to her grandparents?

This story is targeted for children aged two through six. The beautiful, bold and colorful illustrations will capture a young child’s imagination and interest. Vocabulary in the text contains enough of a challenge to extend a young child’s vocabulary when read aloud by a parent or caretaker. There is a bonus fun pack with activities offered to all readers. The elements of adventure, magic and repetition are combined and balanced nicely. Little ones will want to read it over and over and surely look forward to more books in the series.
I've really enjoyed mixing up e-books and hard copy traditional books when it comes to my kids reading time. I feel there is a place and value for both. My 3rd grader really liked Abigail and the Jungle Adventure. There have been times in the past if the main character was a girl he'd find the book too girly and wouldn't be interested. With this book, because of the adventure and the storyline, it is perfect for boys and girls.
I found it to be an easy read for my 3rd grader, he was able to read the e-book at a nice pace and stayed interested the entire time. He also loved reading this book to his little baby sister. This is a great addition to your little ones library and I feel it's perfect for preschool to the early readers. The adventures of Abigail and her friend Nuka keep the young child engaged and immersed and wanting more. This is the second Tali Carmi book we've read and I love the way she encourages kids to keep reading by making available other books as well as a free interactive kit. The illustrations are bright and delightful. The characters jump off the page and capture the young reader.
This is a creative story with well thought out imagery. I like that is user slightly bigger words that most children books. There are a few grammatical mistakes, but I mean if you read any book you will find at least once... and I doubt your child will notice. The story is about and adventurous girl named Abigail, who finds one of her grandpas items in their home, and with this item can go on many adventures. In this adventure she gets to go to the jungle where she meets wonderful creatures and people. I enjoyed this story, it's also very educational. The illustrations are absolutely adorable.
