Sophia is a fast read. It is somewhat of a historical romance, something I’m not normally into. However, I found this book quite interesting. An ailing Lady Atkinson is in a rush against the clock to change her will. Her time is coming to an end and coming soon, but before she leaves this earth she must make sure her fortune doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. She has three daughters, all of which she knows are very incapable of tending the family fortune responsibly.

She secretly meets with her “solicitor” – her attorney—to make sure that her only granddaughter, Sophia, is her inheritor; of course with a few stipulations. The just of the stipulations state that Sophia will receive the inheritance once she reaches her twenty-fifth birthday or upon her marriage to a noble suitor.

When Sophia wants to visit London, her father reaches out to his estranged sister-in-law to watch over Sophia during her “season” while she is there. Sophia’s aunt Nora agrees, but what Nora and her father don’t know is that she is planning to trick Sophia out of her fortune by making sure Sophia is found in the room of a gentleman who was known for being quite the ladies man. Sophia is soon faced with keeping her reputation intact and marrying, Alex, a man she doesn’t even know.

Sophia is not one to be pushed around, no matter how naive she can be. When Sophia and Alex find out about the “other” clause in Lady Atkinson’s will regarding Sophia’s marriage, and the fact that Nora was using it to set them both up, it’s too late to deny their attraction to each other.

Will Sophia forfeit her fortune to marry a man she has fallen in love with or will she let him go to save her grandmother’s fortune?

I enjoyed this book more than I liked to. I think that the author could easily to a follow up or sequel to this novel.

What a fun story! I loved Sophia's character - some might see her as naive (which she was to some extent), but she was just so earnest and always thought the best of people. She was quick to forgive and at the same time, knew how to learn from her experiences and not let people take advantage of her. And the romance was very sweet too!
I had read this book several years ago and forgot about it. I recently purchased it and fell in love with it all over again! I love this book! So sweet and clean!
So fun to see how time changes people, especially when they must face trials. Sadly, learning that you must be careful who you trust is sometimes a disappointing lesson. I loved how they fell in love slowly and really weren't sure when it happened.
This is my second book by this author and I enjoyed this one as much as the first. Both Sophia and Alex are chAracters reading about. The circumstances involved in their struggles before getting their HEA are not too crazy or frustrating. You will enjoy this very neat clean and enjoyable story.
This was such a wonderful little read. I just loved the heroine and the hero, and though this takes an overused Regency trope of the forced/arranged marriage, it is a fabulous story. The characters are engaging, believable, and well-done. I don't often purchase books, but I was really longing for a sweet read and decided to break down and buy this one. Absolutely worth the money (it's worth even more).
I like nice, clean Regency romances, and this fit the bill. It was a fairly quick read with a happy ending.

As another reviewer mentioned, a little more development of the characters—and an epilogue—would have been nice. All in all, it was still a fun read.
This was such a good read!! It had some truly amazing quotes and beautifully written sentences. I loved it. I definitely recommend this book. There were also some great plot twist I didn't see coming. The only problem is, that just like in the last book I read by this author, the main character focuses on her flaw (she thinks she is selfish), so much so, that it becomes extremely redundant and annoying, which really lowered the level of reading of the book for me. The author did not need to bring it up so often; it seemed like she thought the reader would forget about the flaw. I hope this is not a recurring theme in her other books! But overall, the book was a great read. I really love how it is clean romance.
A story of love and loss and redemption. Sophia is an endearing character of integrity. Her simple upbringing is one of sincere love and principle where a sudden change in circumstances and her innocence of malice and ill intent, will eventually and inevitably be exploited. Her unexpected experiences in a superficial world of socially accepted rules and pretence, will finally teach her the hard lessons of life of what is truly of genuine value and honour. Faced with dilemmas and challenges you will be captivated with the twists and turns of Sophia's journey and the way she navigates through some crucial life choices.
