While there is no doubt in my mind that Omar Khayyam was indeed a Sufi Master, Paramahansa Yogananda's book is a real stretch. Each quatrain described is given four sections, the first is the quatrain itself, the second, a glossary of some key phrases in the quatrain, the third, a "Spiritual Interpretation", and the fourth, a "Practical Application". While it is self-evident that the spiritual interpretation and practical application are Paramahansa's and represent his take, in many cases they are merely his Hindu beliefs and extrapolate wildly from the quatrain, and describe what just isn't there. For a Hindu, such as myself, it isn't an issue, but objectively, the free-form extrapolations are not justified, in my opinion. There is a Foreword (not written by Paramahansa) which has some interesting information about Omar Khayyam's life and some other history.
